Do You Think We Can’t See Them or What?
Stuff I hate July 27th, 2008Girls, girls, girls. You may not realize this, but millions of women before you regarded this look as slobbish. I know this seems to be a trend right now, but it’s really not attractive. Not cute. Not flirty. Just makes you look like you can’t dress yourself.
If you’re going to wear a bra with straps that are thicker than the ones on the dress, for the love of God, at least match the color. And, by the way, I believe most men prefer a little mystery. This ain’t it.
And, yes, I did take a picture right there in the church. It was at a wedding, so everyone had cameras out. They were just pointing them at someone else wearing white.
Geez.
I suppose I should ask whether the men out there actually like this look. Do you find it alluring and sexy? Or do you think underwear belongs under there? Be honest.

Ugh. I don’t think that’s the style anyway! lol At least I don’t remember any of the gals from Sex and the City with the granny heavy duty bra on under their spaghetti strap dresses. (Just typing spaghetti makes me hungry).
Anyway, no … that’s not pretty!

I am forever speechless(well maybe not speechless) at what people wear now, in the name of fashion! I think the word ‘fashion’ is used as an excuse to dress like a slob. It’s apparently now fashionable to wear colours together that offend the eye, for men to show their underwear and for women to not only show an ugly white bra, but to even wear a white bra under a black dress! …. Oh do shut up Babs!

This is way more interesting than photos of the bride and groom. If you’re going to take pictures of people we’ve never met, it’s so considerate to find something we can all look at and shake our heads in disbelief and disgust.
Then again, “judge not, lest ye be judged.” (Just my Catholic guilt creeping in again.)

At a wedding? Really? Sad.
But to be honest, not cute anywhere. I am encountering this in that a lot of the maternity stuff out there is sleeveless/tank top style (or even quite thin straps) and I am paranoid about bra strap showing. If its even a close call, I only wear the top at home.

DrowseyMonkey — Granny bra! Got that right. I could almost see if it was a camisole with thin straps, and BLACK. But to have that industrial strength bra hanging out. Oy!
Terry — I’m afraid it is. But if it’s a trend only, it means it’ll die like all bad trends do.
Geakz — I’d dare you to do that. In a church too. Sorry about the pop-up. I just wrote the BlogHer people to find out how to remove those. I know they’re annoying. As for shorts, I spotted a few people (mostly boys) wearing shorts in the church. Another trend?
LOBO — Me, too. Which is why something like this is so bothersome. This would never have been accepted “back in the day.” Don’t ya just hate shoe shopping?
JD at I Do Things — The thing that kills me is you can make out the adjusters on them. It’s not like it was the kind of bra made for hanging out, say, something from Victoria’s Secret. It’s a big, honking utilitarian bra. GAH!
Babs beetle — Oh, yeah. The guys. I love when they wear pants with the crotch at the knees, underwear showing and the only thing keeping them from being arrested is a belt that you hope and pray does its job. What I want to know is how do they walk like that?
Poetikat — It’s a service I do. Yeah, let’s say that. Oh, don’t even talk to me about Catholic guilt. We could go head-to-head on that and I would SO win.
Margaret — Great to see you again! I know what you mean about the tops not being made really for bra-wearing. Maybe it’s the fashion designers we should blame. Hope you are well! I have some catching up to do, don’t I?
July 27th, 2008 at 7:47 pm
Moving down on the bad fashion front, I hate when girls wear belly shirts when their bellies are freakin hanging out! Ewww. No one wants to see your extra skin bobbing about.
July 27th, 2008 at 7:48 pm
Once a fashion trend starts, it doesn’t take long for the general population to turn it into a fashion train wreck! No I don’t find this attractive. If you are sitting immediately behind this person you will most likely find the hairy mole, random shoulder zit, bad tattoo, or other distraction that could have been solved by wearing sleeves!
Well, you asked for a man’s point of view…now you have it.

Oh, mercy … most women today reveal too much, period. From pants so tight every bulge and crevice and line is showing, to tops that are not only unflattering but often downright lewd … and then the most unfortunate trend to wear the underwear in plain sight. There is great mystique in covering up the obvious. Fantastic post (and great pic) … I always wonder: doesn’t she own a MIRROR? Because I think if she knew how she looked, she’d have the grace to be embarrassed.

No, I don’t find this attractive at all for several reasons.
First of all, the thick bra straps showing screams “I’m White Trash!”
Second, I find white bras to be a turnoff all on their own, especially the plain, utilitarian kind that this woman is apparently wearing, judging from the thick straps.
Third, there was no need for straps to be showing at all, clashing or matching color. They do have those strapless bras for dresses like these, don’t they?

Another point — the fact that the dress is a size too small for her isn’t helping her either, with the bulges up over the top of the dress near her armpits. Bleah. I’ve got nothing against chubby or fat women, but for cryin’ out loud, wear something that’s the right size.

ann of the shampooo bag — I’m amazed that heavier girls do that, too. I’m no one to talk about weight, but I don’t make people look at my jiggles. I’m so thoughtful.
DrillerAA — So glad to hear you feel this way. “random shoulder zit” Now there’s a visual! Ewww! The thing is, I think they want us to look at their bodies, imperfections and all. Glad they have such high self-esteem, but ugh, have mercy on us!
Babs beetle — You’d think at some point the discomfort of walking that way would outweigh the coolness factor. But I guess “cool” always trumps comfort.
Momo Fali — I’d hazard a guess she thought she looked hot. Amazing, huh?
Alan — Don’t get me started on the thong. Why, oh why, would you want a garment that gives you a constant wedgie? And cantaloupe boobs? Too much of a good thing.
Maureen — My thoughts exactly. There was a certain degree of mortification if your undergarments were showing. If someone told you your straps were out, you spent the rest of the day double and triple checking.
Jenny — I guess she felt if she didn’t mind them showing, other people wouldn’t. I think girls and teens have such high self-esteem now (a good thing), that they have no regard for modesty anymore (a bad thing). We need to find the middle again.
Danity Donnaly — Absolutely. Still would have looked sloppy, but not nearly as obvious. A thin-strapped black bra might have even looked OK with that outfit.
Rattln Along — My mother always told me “match the color of your skin when wearing white.” Anything else against white will show through. Black thong? Ewwww.
Libertine — I thought trashy, too. The dress was pretty, but the straps ruined it all. And, yeah, a sexier bra would have made all the difference. The bridesmaids in the wedding wore strapless dresses. They either wore strapless bras, or the dresses had enough lift built-in and so didn’t need any. And proper size makes all the difference. #1 rule!
Grandy — I still shake my head over it. You are clearly not alone. None of us here gets it, and thank God for that. I felt better reading all the comments. It means we’re not totally gone.
Ron — It’s all you’ll notice now. As for wearing that in a church, she might have even be better dressed than some. I see jeans and shorts a lot now. That was never, EVER allowed twenty years ago.
Mike Foster — I pitied the people sitting directly behind her. It’s probably all they could focus on. Yeah, that would have given Monk a coronary.
Callie — Yeah, I don’t get it either. I would feel all “bunched up” wearing two tanks underneath. The goal is supposed to be a smooth, comfortable look and feel. Again, “fashion” trumps comfort. I myself wore too-high heels to the wedding that I had no business wearing. But at least no one had to look at my toes.
goodncrazy — Glad I’m not alone. It gives me hope.
Dave — Exactly! That’s the way women of my age do it, and even when I was younger. You would never dream of exposing this much. It screamed “Want some?”

Ok, would someone like an opinion from a teen? Cause here you go:
I personally would have worn a shawl, shrug, or something similar. if that wasn’t an option, i would have worn a black bra at least! It’s just a strap, my MOM shows more than i do some times! you can see her whole bra through this one thin shirt she has and i tell her everytime that “you’re supposed to layer with that top, wear something over or under” and she says “well at least people know i have a bra on!”
so what do you think about that?!?
Many of my friends think the same way or (and this is my favorit quote from them) “I wouldn’t have worn a granny bra!” (refering to the hugely thick straps)
well that’s that. a teens P.O.V.

eeeeuuuwwww, that’s so unattractive. If it isn’t girls and women wearing the wrong color bra with their outfit, then it’s women who wear bras that are the wrong size and their “stuff” is popping out the top over the bra so it looks like they have four boobs instead of two. Yuck!
Then of course there’s the girls/women who wear thongs with low cut jeans and their thong straps are showing. While it may not be as disgusting as seeing the Janitor-crack, it comes pretty close.

I don’t get it either! If someone isn’t willing to buy a strapless bra, fine. Neither am I. But when I buy a dress, I make sure that it has wide straps, or a sleeve of some sort. Sometimes if I think that there is a chance for it to show, I wear a little cardigan over it. Problem solved.

I once went to a wedding that was attended by a couple in their best outfits. Unfortunately those outfits were for competitive square dancing. He had on a jacket with sequined lapels and a string tie with a matching cowboy hat and boots, and she was wearing crinolines and a neckerchief that coordinated. No, they weren’t on their way to a competition. No, this wasn’t in Texas (actually it was in Ephrata, PA), and no, they didn’t dance at the reception. They just came with the weirdness. In the 80s we would go braless if we didn’t have a strapless bra to wear on such occasions. I’m pretty sure that the men really enjoyed that more, anyhow. As a man, and one who loves women at that, I can give you an unqualified uh-uh. It’s not about weight or trashiness or even the utilitarian bra, it just looks slovenly. Unfortunately, it’s a look I’ve seen so often lately that I doubt I’d even notice at all.
Here’s my idea of sexy: a quick flash of a lacy black bra strap as a woman you’d thought of as all-business stretches. Sex appeal is a game of mystery and hints, not screaming in public. That’s one guy’s opinion, anyway.
Then again, who hasn’t been rushing to get ready for an event, only to discover that the only clean, presentable clothes they have don’t match? I’m not defending her, but there’s always the chance that she was just as horrified as the shooter. I’m just sayin’…

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for FINALLY pointing this out to women. It has been bugging me for years. It is the female version of the gang bangers wearing ther pants down around their knees. It just looks ’stupid’ and reinforces the idea that women cannot dress themselves. I have always thought that this is just the precursor of women just walking around in bras with nothing else on. A foot in the door sort of thing.

Alice — Agreed. Some of that stuff they’d make her wear was God-awful. Even on a stick-thin body like hers. Straps hanging out are unattractive on any body.
Chris — OMG. Insist that you don’t match anything. Tell her the only thing you’ll agree to color-coordinate is your tie. That is, if you don’t hang yourself with it first. May the force be with you.
Shiko-Msa — I’m starting to wonder if she thought that a strapless bra would have been too annoying, as they can fall down if not fitted properly. The solution to that would have been to go braless. The dress looked pretty sturdy up front. She’d have been fine without.
Lauren — Yep. There’s a time and a place for the look, and this was neither. I can see the heat being a factor, but there was no excuse for the white bra.
Bucky — Yes, and agreed. The straps on the dress looked pretty supportive. She could probably have gone without a bra.
Sarah — Yes! Really wanted a teen’s viewpoint. Thank you for chiming in. I love the conversation with your mom. Gave me a chuckle. Glad to know the granny bra look is not “in” at the moment. Please pray it doesn’t somehow take off. I never thought the pants-worn-to-the-crotch look would have gone on this long.
Lin Burress — The 4-boob look is atrocious. I think I remember Oprah having a whole show dedicated to getting rid of the 6 boob look (two you were given, two spilling out over top, and two in the back where boobs don’t go). The thong strap thing is worse than the bra thing. Mercifully, I don’t see that as often.
KFJ — It may be bold. It may be stupid. For all I know, there’s a woman outside work in a black outfit and white bra waiting to beat me up.
Singular Girl — I give her credit for not wearing a white dress with a black bra. Could have been worse. Priests at the church I went to as a child would have thrown out anyone wearing shorts and publicly ridiculed them. Now, I guess anything goes. Sad.
StephanieC — See, now there you go making sense. How dare you.
Lori — I don’t remember seeing the woman in shorts. Maybe they were skorts. Remember those? Or really short capris. I’d defend her more than I defend Granny Bra Woman.
Shieldmaiden96 — As is your comment. OMG, I laughed so hard. “They just came with the weirdness.” Love it.
Marie — I wonder if anyone was bold enough to walk up to her and say “Your bra straps are showing.” I could see maybe if you’re wearing that in a night club or something. But to have others staring at your back for two hours in the church, and then another 4 hours at the reception. So weird. The more I look at it, the more I can’t believe she left the house like that.
Jamie — Yeah, where did common sense go? I’m always so embarrassed for girls who wear that kind of underwear. It says “I’m easy.” No girl needs to broadcast that kind of message.
Jenn Thorson — I keep going back to “If only it weren’t white!” She could have gotten away with it.
Ethan Nobles — Bless your heart and a big “thank you” from all of us. One less “out there” daughter in the world. So funny about the snapping thing. I’m laughing at the image of about half a dozen people snapping her straps all at once.
July 28th, 2008 at 12:20 pm
I don’t think this is really the fashion, but even if it is, NOT APPEALING or sexy in the least. I hate if my bra strap shows and there’s a few tops I have with scoop necks that I contantly have to keep pulling at to make sure they don’t slip over too far. In fact, although they are quite pretty, I seldom wear them just for that reason.
To me this is almost as bad as the baggy pant look that shows almost half of a guy’s underpants. Now that I really hate to see!

I am SO with you on this!! It isn’t sexy, and it isn’t smart and it doesn’t make you look bold or brave or clever or anything remotely positive. It looks trashy and slovenly.
I’m not quite so paranoid about my straps showing as I used to be, but if I think there’s the faintest chance of them doing so, I wear a matching bra, or one with ‘tank top’ type straps – ie, plain soft fabric (non-elastic) straps with no buckle adjuster. I have a couple of lightweight soft camisole type bras with very plain ‘tank top’ straps which don’t look out of place layered under looser tops with thin straps, because actually, they don’t look like bras at all. Other than that it’s strapless or bra-less. And I can tell you which my husband prefers! I wouldn’t be seen dead in public dressed like the woman in the picture.
The other trend which bugs me is the one for letting high knickers showing above low cut jeans. These things look kind of semi-okay on young, fit women with no spare flesh – provided they don’t mind looking cheap – but on anyone with love handles … oh, good grief! Get a grip, people!

I have a 15 yr old daughter, and the layered look is in. But, it’s a tank, a cami, and a color co-ordinated bra that makes the ensemble. You can’t tell which strap is which, and it goes together. Still not spaghetti straps though. She wouldn’t be caught dead looking like this. This girl matched her purse to her dress, why couldn’t she take the effort to get a better bra?
On the other side, I saw a young woman recently in a cute yellow sundress, with just a hint of black lace showing from her bra, black purse and strappy sandals. She didn’t show an inch of skin she shouldn’t, but she was smoking the pavement as she went by. So sometimes it works to show a bit of lace.

Oh, and to Sarah – I haven’t bough a white shirt for years because I can’t find one that doesn’t show my bra through it. What happened to decent quality white cotton? I’m sure they never used to be like that. Anyway, to me, it feels the same as showing bra straps on purpose.
I’m not judging your Mum, just saying what my personal opinion is. I can’t see what she’s wearing and it might look great on her, but on me it would look tacky. And ugly. But then I’m overweight, which doesn’t help. LOL!

Hawksdomain — I’m pretty sure the men prefer braless in any decade. What they should buy are really supportive tanks, if there are such things and go without the bra. If you’re young enough, you don’t need as much support anyway.
Bill Womack — I agree with your idea of sexy. A bit of mystery is always more exciting. This just says “Here ya go. Have at it.” Yes, she might have been in a rush, but trust me, a woman at least should know enough to grab the black bra. This white thing is inexcusable.
leigh — Yep. Matching it to black would have done this gal a world of good.
Monique — Doubtful, but at least we can feel better knowing everyone here is bothered by this to some degree. That’s some relief.
Stephanie — Maybe she thinks she starting a new trend: If I can’t see my straps, nobody else can! My guess is the red bra wearer wanted everyone to notice. You did, right? See, it’s all in the plan.
Bruce — I want to know if their parents are bothered by this. Maybe they feel since it’s the trend, they can’t do anything about it. I’m not a parent, but I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t let my daughter out like that or my son with his pants down around his knees. Bizarre. Make it stop!
Karen, author of “My Funny Dad, Harry” — I have a couple tops like that, too. I’m careful where I wear them, if I know I have to constantly check the straps. The saggy, baggy pants thing is worse, I agree. I often stare at the boys who do it and one day I’m going to flat out ask “You hate that look, deep down, don’t you?”
GaFarmWomanPam — Oh, if only. There’s a middle school near where I work. I often see boys milling about outside in the morning with their pants hanging down like that. I pray the teachers make them pull them up once class starts. I’m for school uniforms, and not because I went to catholic school. But because all the kids would look similar and decently-dressed. Dress like that at home. In school, look like a human.
Milena — I love watching old movies where the women dressed up every day, covered most everything, and still looked like knock-outs. You’re right. What’s wrong with looking like a lady?
Jay — Agreed. For all the model shows on TV, you would think the girls would at least see what’s stylish. What gives? What you describe is the proper way to do it if you’re gonna go that route. Whatever you wear underneath can’t be a big ‘ol white boulder holder. They need to be, like you said, not really bras at all. And, yeah, a chunky girl cannot let her stuff hang out over the panties. They call those muffin tops, right? Ugh.
Shadowsrider — It’s a look that requires a lot of care. One wrong move, and you have this. And, yes, if you do it just right, the men go wild. A hint of lacy bra is perfect. A big ‘ol honking adjustable bra strap? Not so much.
Jay (again) — I think I mentioned before my mom always taught me to match the bra color to your skin color if you’re wearing white. If you’re darker, go with taupe. That way, the only thing you worry about is bumps from the adjusters. It’s hard finding a good quality “T” that won’t show all the contours of the bra. Being overweight myself, you have to go for clothing with more structure. It’s a pain to find things that aren’t too thin. We’re not all size 4, are we?
ken armstrong — She did indeed have whoppers, but honestly, I think she could have done without a bra. The dress looked well structured and gave good lift in the front. Plus, with it being black, it was forgiving in terms of no “see through.”
Lisa — That’s the very age a girl can get away with this, I think. You really need to have boobs that hold themselves up. Hey, at least if you and I have no style, we still know to hide our straps, right?!
Joe — Sorry, Joe. Can’t help you there. I know, it’s killing you.

Someone further up mentioned “plumber’s crack” and I thought I would let you know that the female equivalent to that is called the “coin slot”. Too many bra straps and too many coin slots are showing nowadays. Have a little modesty! (wow-I sound like a fuddy-duddy, but I swear, I’m not!)
July 28th, 2008 at 5:21 pm
I think it’s weird. And kindof ugly. I hate when people act like no one else can see them, or they’re the only ones there.
And I think it makes it look like you can’t take the time to make youself look nice.
July 28th, 2008 at 6:28 pm
I’ve been trying for several hours now to think of something kind to say. It didn’t happen. HOLY CRAP…this girl needs to go back and ask her mom to help her get dressed before going out in public. And tell sister Ann of the Shampoo Bag she really didn’t need to go there.
July 28th, 2008 at 6:51 pm
Well, I suppose it’s the female version of the droopy drawers the boys seem to like. What I find amusing is that the girls think the guys are stupid for wearing their pants that way. I have two teenage daughters and yes, they do show bra straps, but as mentioned above, it’s the layered, color-coordinated look and doesn’t scream “White granny bra!”

Thank you for a good laugh. I have to admit, I’m on the fence with this issue because I don’t mind this as much if the straps match or are thinner (or equally as thin) as the actual garment. However this is UNACCEPTABLE and TACKY! Poor thing. Doesn’t she have a friend to tell her this isn’t cute? I sure would hope one of my friends or family member would never let me go out like that.
July 28th, 2008 at 10:28 pm
Wow! Underwear brings out the comments! Alright!
Nope. Don’t like it. It’s like she didn’t think, or care about what she was wearing. Maybe it’s the only bra that was clean. Just plain lazy, and a turn off.
Not that I dislike the exposed underwear thing altogether, though. It can be done sexy. But it has to be subtle and tasteful. Other times it should be hiding in wait, like my tiger print thong.

Jeff — I’ve no doubt. When I think Jeff, I think fashion plate.
mlm — I’ve heard that term before and it makes me laugh when I see it. Funny, but ewwww.
Regan — Agreed. Now promise your mother you won’t dress like that!
Lee — I think it’s all been said. Join the club. We hate it.
Anna — I guess there’s a double standard here. But at least the girls can actually walk in their style of choice.
Forest — It’s good to know we can count on you to cover your straps. Hey, do you have a new blog I haven’t seen before? I like it!
brooke — Good for you! Just remember: No granny bra!
Babs beetle — Just as long as you didn’t go the Britney Spears look, if you know what I mean.
Lisa Irby — There’s such a fine line between this look being acceptable and not. Yeah, wish someone would have helped her out. Again, I wonder what the people in the pew behind her were thinking. Hard to look away.
Ferd — No kidding. It was hard to keep up with them yesterday. It really spawned a lot of feedback. Now, about that tiger print thong… we need to talk.
Judi — I doubt this will help any, but at least we know some people still think modesty is the best policy.
Marelisa — Probably not. On one hand, I give her credit for being comfortable with herself, but this is a tad too comfortable.
Shiko-Msa — Braless works if the dress has enough lift, which this one might have had. Can’t have them flapping around. Industrial strength straps would have worked if the bra had been black, but just barely. Yea, the comments went through the roof on this one.
Mandi — You reminded me that I spotted a teenaged girl at the reception wearing those clear straps. Still noticeable, but not nearly as much and it’s obvious she took care to conceal them.

She needs her mom or big sis to jump in and save her. I think everyone can probably remember a time they tried to wear something that was a little bit out there.
Or
she could be on vacation at the beach and decided to go to church. Maybe this is the only decent outfit she had and she didn’t want to go without a bra on. At least she’s in church, she could be dressed like this drinking and hooking up at a bar.

Babs beetle — You worded it just fine. Brittney screwed up!
Nards — I remember catching a glimpse of the front of the dress. It looked pretty sturdy to me. She could have safely left the bra at home.
Natural — That’s a whole lot of reasons! I say she probably didn’t care, but I like to think she thought all eyes would be on the bride. That’s a nice way to look at it!
Henson Ray — Yea, it’s like BOING! BRA! It does look like Playtex, doesn’t it?
Sheila Sultani — Yes, I’m surprised at the number of comments here. We all seem to be in agreement. Perhaps if she’d been at a party, it wouldn’t have seemed so bad. Unfortunate time and place.
Turn One Pound Into One Million — Yes, the transparent ones are a little odd. The straps look like scotch tape, but at least they’re not so obvious. A strapless bra would have done wonders for her.
My Bug Life — Very tacky and eye-roll inducing.
etta — I think girls of any size think it’s OK to show the midriff for some reason. In “my day” we would be as mortified to show flab as we would to show bra straps. Even when I was thinner, the midriff wasn’t really an option. Modesty is key.
Tiffany — Thanks for a thought from the fashion capital of the world! Maybe no one really cares what they look like anymore. Sign of individually gone horribly wrong?
Sugee — Yea, we were watching for the bride, but first we got an eyeful of the flower girl having a meltdown. What a sight that was! She barely made it to the alter (someone had to finally carry her down and deposit her in a pew.)
Stacey — I have exactly the same problem. I swear, there are no shops for women our age. Somebody help me! The looks get increasingly younger as I get older!
tfa — That’s OK, you can be reasonable. But every woman has more than one color bra — guaranteed. I bet by now, if you read all the comments, you know everything you want to know about the wearing of bras, and stuff you didn’t, eh?
July 29th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
It definitely is not a good look! I have seen younger girls do this, seemingly on purpose, as though it is some kind of fashion statement – don’t quite get it myself!
It does seem logical to try and match, rather than drawing attention to your bra.
One thing with spaghetti straps, when you have a larger bust it can be hard to find bras with nice, thin straps. That can be frustrating.
July 30th, 2008 at 4:58 am
Erin — It’s definitely a “look” these days, but I agree, very hard to find thin enough straps for some of the tinier tops. So it’s either go braless if you can get away with it, or choose another top. Anything but this.
July 30th, 2008 at 9:25 am
lol…I had to laugh at this. I used to get upset at my much younger sister-in-law for always doing the same thing. I remember when (can’t remember the name) I was a teen, a magazine had those do’s and don’t’s of dressing, where they’d place the big black bar over the eyes of the “don’t” girl…and showing bra straps was a big DON’T. As a Pavlovian result, I’ve never been able to do that.

Everyone wears and does things that in hind sight they realize were mistakes. Have you ever regreted a clothing
choice or hairstyle only to find a framed photo of it on
a family member’s mantle? You cringe and hope nobody
bothers to look. Well, this girl has had her mistake posted on the internet for 114 people plus to laugh about.
We may not be able to identify her, but I bet she could identify herself. She may type in something about bra fitting or shopping and then run across this mortification.
