Man on Mars?
Fun, food July 25th, 2008Almost missed this one! Cycling through a million digital pictures, I came across this one taken months ago. I think it makes a fine addition to the Food That Looks Like Stuff collection.
Do you see the face? Or do you think I’m seeing things again?
Wrap Your Brain Around It
For the record, this turkey wrap was heavenly, despite not having a scrap of bacon in it. I know. Hard to believe. It might have actually been healthy. Don’t worry, I won’t let that happen again.

I see a face on the second nearest wrap.
Brown left eye and a bulge for the right eye and a bigger bulge for a nose.

Jaffer — Whew! I’m not crazy then! What a relief.

I’d be conflicted.

July 25th, 2008 at 9:07 pm
At first I was really confused because I was looking at the tops of the wraps (I even opened up the larger image), then I finally got a clue and realized it was on the side of the second one in from the bottom. It’s like those trees in the Wizard of OZ. I can only see one eye, and it’s winking. It does remind me of something else…from my past. It’ll come to me.

There is a face on the one 2nd from the bottom. It’s a rather creepy face too.
And now, I am hungry… so I must go find something that looks equally as good, minus the face.

I also see a face from the second one from the farthest. There is a brown sad left eye and a slight bulge that looks like a profile of a flat nose.
If those Tiki heads were stacked would we have a totem pole ?

Babs beetle — Yes! My husband agreed that he looks like that (and Old Man Winter).
DrowseyMonkey — And that too! Those face mugs sometimes creep me out. I have a few tucked away in my cabinets. One is a monkey face. Talk about creepy!
Geakz — My first thought (based on the original title) was “Man on the Moon,” but then I remembered it was the “Man on Mars.” And then I looked at the tiki and thought “Geakz is awesome.”
Babs beetle — That would make an excellent name for a sandwich, eh?
Sinister Dan — No, no emotion upon eating the face. Once I get my pictures of food that looks like stuff, it ceases to affect me. Chomp!
brooke — Yep. Second from front, tilted back.
Poetikat — It is from the Wizard of Oz! I love how you guys are finding such specific faces that it looks like. I’m not crazy! I’m not crazy!
Musing — Gargoyles absolutely freak me out! And that one’s no different. What is that? Half monkey, half man?
Monique — It is. Almost sinister. It’s the shadows that make it look so mysterious. It not only looked good, it tasted good!
Musaab – Welcome, Jaffer’s brother! I think if someone saw me stacking them, and then taking a picture, they’d have me committed. For now, I only risk that whenever I take pictures of the plastic bag still stuck in the tree.
Lauren — Yes, it begged me not to eat it, then I said “Look. You’re a sandwich. Get over it.” And then it was all over in a flash.
Curtis — I think there’s some part of my brain that can see things that others can’t. I’m not sure if it’s a skill or an affliction. Next time, I’m getting one with bacon!
Zip n Tizzy — I hadn’t considered it’d be viewed from top down. I’m always thinking what I see is obvious. My husband’s a little worried about me sometimes.
Alan Bamboo — No one ever accused me of eating healthy! If I grew anything, it’d be tomatoes, for my BLTs, of course.
Maureen — If I imagined the hamburgers I eat once had a face, I’d have to be a vegetarian. It’s best not to think about it.
Stephanie — I’m waiting for a miracle to show up on something I can sell on eBay. Turkey wraps don’t hold up well during shipping. But the Virgin Mary on toast? You bet.
goodncrazy — And be sure to look carefully at your next meal. Never know what you’ll see!
Cromely — Is it bad that my mouth is watering because I just imagined it with bacon? Behold! The Power of Bacon!
Ribeezie — It’s weird, but it means you have a keen eye. Think of it as a skill. Now go check out your food! Gotta make it work for you.
Jay — Now you got me looking for stuff in the “brains.” There’s gotta be something in those swirls! So Odiogo’s not working on my blog, or did you add it to yours and it’s not working there? I checked here and it’s working for me. Email me at kathyblog07 at gmail dot com if it’s not working for you here.
July 26th, 2008 at 6:11 am
I wouldn’t have seen it if not for Jaffer. I was too busy studying the swirls of lettuce in the closest one. I find the face rather disturbing. I’m glad you ate it.

JD at I Do Things — Now I’m trying to see something in the swirls of lettuce! I used to eat a lot of these until the place that sells them started pushing sushi more. You can add sushi to the list of foods I’ve never tried.
ken armstrong — I like the idea of Tiki head. He’s got that flat top look going on.
Daisy the Curly Cat — A wrap would wink at a cute kitty like you! Everyone adores you, you know.
Lori — I’ll take “warped” as a compliment any day of the week. Promise me you’ll look for something? Come on, Lori. You’re wired like this!
Jinksy — Because he knows he’s about to be inhaled.
KFJ — Go back to the main Food That Looks Like Stuff page and look at the smiley snack and the kitty cat ice cream. That’ll make you feel better.
Poetikat — And they all whispered to #3 “Don’t look her in the eye! She’ll eat you!”
Swubird — I did, but I still “see things” sometimes. And, yes, people worry about me.

Heath — Really? Not getting the face? Jaffer needs to Photoshop an enhancement!
damon — I know. It’s a travesty. Also, the wedding reception I was at tonight was baconless. But then I saw the dessert table and that totally made up for it.
KFJ — The kitty cat ice cream makes me happy ever time I see it!
Joe — I could never get those things. Strange, huh? You’d think I’d be cut out for stuff like that.
Rickey Henderson — Or the alien tiki Santa mug?
Jenny — Totally! See, you get it! Now go forth and find me some other stuff. You clearly have the eye for this. It’s a gift you must not waste.

Just a little note about BLT sandwiches, I used to work in a fine restaurant, and the cooks would prepare for me the magnificent BLTs. I had the tons of free BLT’s available whenever I would please, with crispy bacon, fine lettuce, chops of cherry tomatoes and the finest Belgian mayonnaise – it was a BLT paradise.

Elle — Don’t worry. These sometimes aren’t straightforward, so you don’t need your eyes checked. I’ve had iffy ones in the past and I think this one fell into that category. Thank God we have Jaffer to decipher them for us!
Alice — I have to find some food item that won’t rot in the mail. I keep waiting and waiting for something dry and pumped full of preservatives. Gotta keep the faith. My day will come.

It is very similar to the man in cartoon “Courage the Cowardly Dog”. Does someone else has noticed that.

In the middle of the second wrap from the top there is what appears to be a baby frog or other slippery, slimy thing.
But the sandwich looks good. Hope you enjoyed eating it.
