Della -- Oh wow! That's exciting! So are you like a game show family, or what? This is awesome! Thank you so much for sharing your TPIR story. I love hearing about people who've actually gotten on a show as a contestant. I'd kill to spin the big wheel just once in my life. I know, I know. It makes me entirely too weird. Thanks for dropping by and I wish your family well during the audition. Come back and let me know if you get on. I'll interview you!

Love the interview...found it while searching for contestant rules. My family is auditioning in Hollywood in a week.

My sis was on "The Price is Right" back in the 80's. She won a washer and dryer. She didn't expect to be called to "come on down." She was just there to support a friend that got on the show during the first taping. Then when she won the round she got scared because she was employed by a panty hose company and didn't know if they were a sponsor. She kept blabbing at Bob to keep him from asking her what she did for a living. Turns out her company wasn't a sponsor and that wouldn't have mattered anyway, but she didn't know til later.

When she played the big wheel she was first and got a 75. The next contestant went over 100 and was busted. She teased Bob by saying, "I'm glad. I'm glad." He laughed at her and told her she was "mean." She said he was very handsome and charming.

Corrina -- OMG! The Price is Right?!?!? I could never go on that show. Too much pressure. Maybe not so much now that Bob's gone. You know, I've heard that Bob could be kind of an ass. Did your friend win anything?

That was SO fun to read!! One of my friends was a contestant on The Price is Right and it was hilarious. Bob Barker was a little mean to her though... Which was weird.

When I was in high school, my family tried out in New Orleans for Family Feud. We didn't make it. I'd love to see the production notes.

TheSnackHound -- Wow! I'm totally flashing back. None of those types of shows would last today. Too corny!

Shieldmaiden96 -- Your stories kill me. You got so close to making it past the first round. Kudos! I'd have been that guy who took one look at the questions and split. Chain Reaction is harder than it looks, I think. That's so great you knew someone on the show. As for the D&D players, how much you wanna guess they're still playing it?

Karen, autor of "My Funny Dad, Harry" -- It was a great interview. I'm so happy Rob obliged and answered all of my questions. He should be glad, though, that I didn't ask him 40 of them. I could have, you know.

My grandmother pestered me for years to try out for Jeopardy, so when they were holding tryouts down in Atlantic City, my best friend and I went down to Resorts to give it a whirl.
They had tables set up in one of their big ballrooms, with written tests and pencils laid out. Just like in school, you had to sit there until they told us to turn them over and begin. The guy across from me turned his over, read it, and walked out. The test was basically 10 hardcore 'final Jeopardy' type questions on a variety of subjects. To make it to the next round, you had to answer 8 of 10 correct. We finished our tests and wandered around the casino while they were 'graded'. I got 7 out of 10 and my friend got 6 of 10. So we played nickel slots for an hour, sat through a show in the lounge that was so unintentionally hilarious I thought we'd have a brain hemhorrage from the effort of not laughing, and went home.

A friend of mine was on a show called 'Chain Reaction' on the Game Show network; it was very odd to see someone you know on tv. They went kinda crazy with the makeup and she looked a little unreal. They were beaten by a team of guys who looked like they probably had 11 minutes of sexual experience among them; they were like the oldest intact D & D players club in America.

It was sort of a franchise. A couple of cities had their local version kinda like how Romper Room started out. I think it was mostly northeast and great lakes area cities that had it. I remember the sliding door thing where the people would walk out.

Well, if they take family feud off the air i am sure it will live on forever on youtube (maybe).

Fancy -- I tend not to watch a lot of game shows since I'm not home when they're on. But they run Family Feud in the evenings on a local channel. I don't know what I'm going to do if they take it off the air.

brooke -- Me too. I'd be the one giving all the wrong answers.

Shadowsrider -- My mom never wanted me to watch Match Game because of the adult humor. Same with Tattletales (is that the one you're thinking of?) I can't remember the maze one. On the tip of my tongue, though. Maybe someone else will know.

TheSnackHound -- They do that with Jeopardy, too. Remember the classic Cheers episode where Cliff answers "People who have never been in my kitchen" in response to a list of luminaries with something in common? A Gremlin? Gee, what a prize! I want to know more about Mike's Let's Make a Deal fame, too! I remember Bowling for Dollars. Was that nationwide? For some reason I thought that was only on the East coast.

1) That was a fun read! I just thought of something: how many sitcoms have done an episode that has the characters go on 'family feud'. I could think of a few. that's what you do when you are out of ideas.

2) Speaking of Price is Right: What i especially love is when the run the "classic" Price is Right episodes and one day they showed an episode where a lady won a 1974 Gremlin! It was hilarious.

3) I want to know what Mike and his Ex-wife dressed up as for Let's Make a Deal.

I remember being in kindergarten and sitting in the audience of "Bowling for Dollars." My two aunts were on the show. Nothing like Family Feud, but we got a thrill out of it.

1) That was a fun read! I just thought of something: how many sitcoms have done an episode that has the characters go on ‘family feud’. I could think of a few. that’s what you do when you are out of ideas.

2) Speaking of Price is Right: What i especially love is when the run the “classic” Price is Right episodes and one day they showed an episode where a lady won a 1974 Gremlin! It was hilarious.

3) I want to know what Mike and his Ex-wife dressed up as for Let’s Make a Deal.

I used to love Family Feud, but I never wanted to be on it. Match Game was the one I wanted to be on, just because they were all so funny!
Does anyone remember the name of the game show where married celebrity couples went on? Or the one where to guided your partner through a maze?
