If this is “easy” I think I’m going to go back to bed. Maybe I’ll get up again in a hour and have another look at it… hmmm… a black recessed hole with a bit of silver paint around it set into someone’s skin or a board… or is it a different part of that paper towel holder?

hi Kathy,
At least this time I did notice that you called the picture “hole.jpg” so it’s definately a hole. And I’m thinking it’s a plumbing-related hole, which makes me wonder if you had a clogged drain?
Well, I’m back, and I don’t think the extra hour of sleep helped.

EVERYONE: Someone’s close!
Babs beetle — No, but I like that phrase “desk tidy.” Sounds like an oxymoron.
Anne — No dice.
robert bourne — Ooo, that’s a good guess! It does look like a bundt cake tin and thanks, now I want cake. Oh, and you’re wrong.
Carol at SheLives — Good guess. You guys are really thinking hard about this!
Lauren — You did not hit the nail on the head.
ann of the junkdrawerblogfamily — We sure are sisters. I was going to add to the post “And, no, it’s not a solar eclipse.” We do think alike!
Erinj1976 — Nope, and sorry that I give you no perspective when I take these photos. I can see how it can appear teeny tiny, but it’s not.
Befuddled Trade Shot Guru Steve — All I can tell you is you’ve described it perfectly. Sorta.
Jen — Like for a drink?
Gandalf and Grayson — Yes! It’s a hole! How ’bout that!
Maureen — Yes, it’s a black hole. And I’d bet money nobody has one of these in their houses, but they’ve seen them before. Oooo! A hint! Sorta maybe.
Agent U219 — Nope. All my toilets are currently attached to their holes. Um. That didn’t sound right.
Daisy the Curly Cat — Oh, you just want cake!
Joe — Nope, but just cuz you said that, I’m going to make a bacon and cheese sandwich. Thanks for the trigger.
Bryan — Nope, you can’t shake this!
Alan — Oh, and here I thought this would be so easy. A checker? Tin Foil? Whatta?
Grace — That was exactly what I thought it looked like when I cropped the image. But no.
dizzblnd — Good one, but no.
rapidmax — You are.
Needs-more-sleep Trade Show Guru Steve — Yes, hole it be. Not a plumbing-related hole, though I did have a drain problem recently. I had a wig’s worth of hair stuck in the shower drain. God bless Drano.
Comedy Plus — Me too! I always love to read how people interpret these things. Like some kind of weird Rorschach test.
amber — Nope and nope. Weird there were two animal eye guesses.
Babs beetle — You’re just gonna keep guessing, aren’t you? Nope, but good guess. Oh, and I increased the edit time by a minute. The marks are really not silver. It is the result of the camera’s flash. Does that help?
Regan — No, no and no. Strike 3, you’re out!

Hmmm, there are some very, very good guesses in this next batch. Very good.
Musing — Nope, and I guarantee no part of my shower will make an appearance in this blog.
carol at A Second Cup — No burner cover and no eclipse, although damned if it doesn’t look like one!
absepa — Stop saying that! You’ll get one when you least expect it.
The Hawg! — Don’t worry, I stink at lots of things. Probably doesn’t make you feel better, knowing me.
rattln’ along — Nope, but I was thinking of using that as I was scoping out things to photograph.
Matt — You speak another language. Engine block? Kathy does not understand car speak. Why does my engine have a block? Is that a good thing?
robert bourne — Bacon cures all ills.
Lee — Creepy! As for the moon/bottle cap theory, I would agree, except you’re still wrong.
JD at I Do Things — I deep sea dive for What’s That? posts so you don’t have to!
Stephanie Barr — That’s a whole bunch of guesses. It’s probably good I didn’t put a limit on the number of guesses from a single person.
On-the-verge-of-insanity Trade Show Guru Steve — I demand you stop looking at it. You must put it out of your mind immediately. Save yourself! And silly you. Don’t you know I’m the Queen of Vague?
tahtimbo — No, no outlet box. Sorry!
PaulsHealthBlog.com — Well, now, I’d have a really good story to accompany a bullet hole, wouldn’t I? Almost makes me wish it was one.
The Mind of a Mom — I like your dryer vent idea. But nope.
Jodith — Nope, but good for you for cleaning your stove. I felt so accomplished yesterday when I cleaned mine of bacon grease splatter, under the knobs and everything.

EVERYONE: There’s a winner! Check the latest post for the winning entry.
Cromely — Both good guesses, in fact, the door knob thing is what I thought it looked like when I cropped it.
Chris Casey — I would love it to be a portal to another place, especially when I need to get away for a bit. Portals don’t need to be large, do they? Like, I can still fit through one this small if I wish it, right?
Lori — No rubber bumper thingy, though I like your description.
Sam — Well, it is a table with a hole in it, but that wasn’t specific enough. Go look at the answer. You’ll kick yourself. You were so close!
Kathy — Golf hole is incorrect, and you have to be more specific than thingamajiggys. Thingamabob is also unacceptable. Just for the record.
Vivienne — I love making you guys crazy. Truly I do.
Data Entry Services — Well, I thought it was easy because you can make out that the hole doesn’t go through something all the way. It’s a hole to a cavernous pit and I was thinking someone would get that it was a desk.
Susan K — Nope, but very good guess. I have one of those tables and we never put the umbrella in it because the table is under a covered patio.
Steve — Oooo! No! I like your guess, though. The only bowling ball is the fake one I use when playing Wii Bowling.
The Mind of a Mom — Oh, my dear, I felt so guilty reading your answers, knowing the correct guess was already made. I hope you didn’t get a headache.
Jenn Thorson — I do! I do! You’re a smarty pants. I’m so disappointed in you.
Patricia — Good guess. But nyet.
Jayne — You’re right, it does look like an eclipse. You are in good company with that guess.
brooke — Gotcha. You know your hillbilly!
MerapuLand — Aw! Points for cuteness!
Laurelei — You’ve obviously thought long and hard about it. I’m sorry you are wrong. Better luck next time!
Melissa — You got my email about that. I’m really sorry I messed with the Feedburner settings. I was trying to get the email notification out sooner, not later. I’ve since changed it again, to send notifications between 1-3AM, so you should always have them in your morning mail if I have posted the night before, which is my typical posting time.
feefifoto — That’s a great guess. I hate putting those stupid bags on. It shouldn’t be that hard!
lauren — It is a holder, but not for coffee. For ink! Well, if you drink black coffee like I do, then maybe you could call it ink.
shadowsrider — I feel bad there was some shine on there from the camera flash. It might have thrown some people. Of course, I’m dastardly like that.
Ivanhoe — Yes, someone guessed it by this point, but I was so busy at work, I couldn’t get the post up announcing the winner. Check the newest post!
Still-befuddled Trade Show Guru Steve — I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I know I messed up the Feedburner thing. Sorry that you thought it was a new post. I’ve hopefully fixed that. So do you have an old school desk in your house? I’m curious if anyone does.
Woman Tribune — I don’t blame you for not sifting through this many comments. If it makes you feel any better, I thought it looked like doorknob hole to. If I didn’t already know what it was, that’d have been my guess.
Jeff — I loved your guess. I stared and stared at it and then it hit me. Pencil tip up really, really close. Good one!
Susan K — I love the multitude of different guesses here. I’m sorry it drove people insane. Um. No I’m not!
The Mind of a Mom — OK, so you’re back. You’re still wrong, my dear. You were the inspiration for the post title announcing the winner. So that’s something, right?
Broadway Matron — Go look! I posted the winning entry!
shadowsrider — It does, doesn’t it? You’ve just given me a good idea. I might expand my items to those found outdoors as well as indoors. Might get more interesting!
