I actually do know to look there if I have to refer back to my laptop order. “My” is so ingrained in my head, I’ll never forget it. Anyone else looking for it?

I love to fix my things up like in alphabetical order – it’s the only way. so that my brain won't explode and smoke coming out of my ears if i saw my things so messy.

When I tried to log on to my notebook, a box saying “there are not sufficient resources to load” my account with the default something-or-other popped up. The box had a timer that was going to close the box, and then when it closed it would not log me on. I couldn’t turn it on normally so I cut the power. When I turned it back on I logged on fine?
I read here PC Error but couldnt make sense?

"M" for my? And to think you share an office with a librarian!

I have a PI file -- stands for "perceived injustice." In it I still have the memo from a former employer who announced a new job evaluation dimension, "neatness of office space."

Lisa (Jonny's Mommy) - Not a thing!

Dorothy Stahlnecker -- But I bet you can still find everything you need, right?

Mike Foster -- Very much like it. I'm doing well with WW, averaging 2.3lbs a week for the three weeks so far. Got a long way to go, but slow and steady wins the race. I think EC is on life-support. I give it three months, if that.

That's like filing your tax return copy under "D" for "Don't forget to do your taxes." Priceless.
Thanks for dropping by, I am pulling for you on your weight loss goals. By the way, I am thisclose to dropping Entrecard myself--looks like you're doing fine without it so far.

peace,

JD at I Do Things -- Because that would make too much sense. I have other laptop orders in there, so it would have made sense to put my name on it because once it leaves my desk it ceases to be meaningful to anyone but me. See how much thought I should have put into it before?

Daisy the Curly Cat -- It is hard! So many letters! And they have to be in order! Sigh.

Wendy -- I'm still looking for my HS senior yearbook. I was holding onto it because there's a picture I wanted to scan and put on the blog. I must have saved it so carefully I'll never find it again. Still fuming about that.

Lauren -- Such is being me.

Sniffie and the Florida Furkids -- She's in good company. Early in our marriage, my husband and I bought sturdy filing cabinets and filed carefully. We have 15 year old paperwork in there and the rest of it is scattered about the house. Ugh.

Jenn Thorson -- I knew a woman like that once. She worked behind towers of desk paper. We stopped making fun of her when we'd ask her for something and she'd assess the piles for a second and go right to the page we needed. Freakish!

GoingLikeSixty -- That's great. Then you only really need one file folder and don't have to be stressed by alphabetizing. As Daisy says, the alphabet is HARD!

Bleuken -- Same here. I only review the piles when they start falling over.

Jeff -- It kind of is how I do it at home. I like to appear organized at work, but home is another matter. We have about 5 junk drawers or boxes where random things go. Despite screaming "Where's the ...?" over and over, we haven't changed the "system" in years. We can't be helped.

earthtoholly -- Consistency is key.

Shieldmaiden96 -- Oh, that's so funny! Got a chuckle out of the "mini hubs" when I showed it to him. And you are so right. Mini hubs are extraordinarily boring and un-fun.

Joe -- Then can we file this under "Awesome?"

Alan -- You know, when I have to search for "my" laptop order, I know exactly where to get it. If I made more sense out of the label now, I bet I'd never find it again. My search method needs to stand as-is or I'm screwed.

Amy Grindhouse -- Which is why I'd be very embarrassed if anyone had to go looking for stuff in there. I think if I ever leave that job, I'm just going to shred everything and let someone else start anew with what I suspect will be a much better filing system.

DrowseyMonkey -- Oh, see, now that's what I should have done. Can you come over and fix the rest of my drawer?

Mary at Holy Mackerel -- I think the trick is to name it whatever we want, as long as we remember the first letter. The problem is if your system has to, you know, makes sense to other people.

BabaBooey -- And you should see the big file I have for every other person who bought a system. Shoved in there willy-nilly. I really needed to file them under the names or departments who bought them, instead of by most recent. It's a bitch trying to find things.

storybeader -- It's actually "mini hubs" and they're small boxes used to split a single network connection out to multiple computers. I know. Boring.

Grace -- Oooo! I like that motto. I'm sticking with it!

Maureen -- You reminded me of something. Years ago I had to uninstall/reinstall a piece of software. Searching for it under Add/Remove Programs, I found it under "T" for "The XYZ System." Laughed my head off.

Lee -- That's pretty much how it's done around here. Piles, boxes, shelves and drawers. I did want to buy a nice decorative wooden file cabinet to put an end to that, once and for all, but it wouldn't fit in my car so I canned the idea. One day we'll be organized... (p.s. Throw the condiment packages away. They can probably kill you by now.)

If we even had a filing system I wouldn't say a thing about "My Laptop Order" being filed under M. The way our system works is to take important papers, find an empty space on a shelf, desktop, kitchen cupboard or coffee table and drop it there. Then six months later when you need that paper spend three days cleaning off those surfaces until you find what you're looking for. Then when when you're done with it, repeat the above process.

You have "a" Junk Drawer...we have a kitchen full of junk drawers. I have found tampons, toothpaste, old eye glasses and condiment packages from chinese restaraunts in with the silverware. I won't even try to describe what's stored in the lower cabinets under the sink and counter tops.

If we even had a filing system I wouldn’t say a thing about “My Laptop Order” being filed under M. The way our system works is to take important papers, find an empty space on a shelf, desktop, kitchen cupboard or coffee table and drop it there. Then six months later when you need that paper spend three days cleaning off those surfaces until you find what you’re looking for. Then when when you’re done with it, repeat the above process.
