I’m Granting Wishes Today
Fun July 20th, 2010
That shriek you heard this afternoon? That was me! I got my voodoo doll! An authentic New Orleans voodoo doll complete with instructions.
Isn’t it the coolest-looking voodoo doll you ever saw?! Oh, it’s the only voodoo doll you ever saw? Me too!
Because I’m a giver, I’m going to let one lucky reader benefit first. All you have to do is drop your wish in the comments and I will randomly pick one winner and see what I can conjure up for you.
Now remember, I told you I would never use the doll for bad, only for good. So none of that “world peace” or “fix the BP oil well” nonsense. Never gonna happen.
If you’re curious, here’s what the instruction paper said I have to do:
This doll is handmade by local practitioners and is “all-purpose.” In New Orleans, we use dolls as focusing tools to bring positive changes into our lives. First, get a personal item (worn clothing, hair or nail clippings, etc.) from yourself or another individual you wish to affect and pin it to the doll (Please be careful not to stick yourself!)
During the waxing moon phase, use the white pin when drawing positive influences to yourself (love, prosperity, etc.) and during the waning moon phase, use the black pin when sending negative influences away from yourself (oppressive people, bad energy, habits, etc.) Remember your karma & try to stay positive.
Now, while holding the doll, in your mind, picture the result you desire (creative visualization). For example, if you need a car, see yourself driving that car. If it’s love you seek, picture yourself with the type of person you desire, doing things you enjoy. You get the idea!
Do these focusing exercises daily, for our specific purpose, until your result is achieved. Remember, true magick (sic) takes time and effort, so don’t give up. Whenever possible, do your magick outdoors to get the power of Mother Nature on your side. You may also add candles, oils, drawings and any other personal items you feel will assist you to best creatively visualize your goal.
When your needs have been met, be sure to thank God, the Universe, the Spirits, or yourself (depending on your perspective) for the Blessings you’ve received. Always have an “attitude of gratitude.” We thank you for your patronage and wish you good luck & wisdom in all of your magickal pursuits!
—-
Isn’t this fun?! I can’t wait to try my voodoo doll out on someone. I promise I’ll try very hard to grant your wish.
* Please don’t send me your hair or nail clippings. I’ll make do without. Really. Don’t send parts of you.
Get wishing!
Stumble it!

I have a voodoo doll that is almost identical. I got mine in NO a few years ago. No wishes. Just glad you posted!!

That is indeed the coolest voodoo doll I’ve ever seen! I’ve apparently never seen a “real” voodoo doll. I feel so cheated. If you can use that baby to make me win the lottery I’d be forever grateful. Have fun with your awesome new doll. (Does s/he have a name?)

That’s pretty nifty Kathy
I’ve always wanted to try one, so maybe I should have my first experience be by proxy.
I’m working very hard to find a job that is more conducive to a healthy work environment, which would translate to a healthier me.
So, positive energies to facilitate a favorable outcome in my search would be most amazing

I have a wish! There’s this author I really like and I hear she’s working on a book, so my wish is that sometime in the not too distant future I will have a copy of said book on my very own Kindle. (Or a hard copy, either way would work. Ooh, I know- signed and everything!! So I guess a hard copy would be better. Can’t get anything signed on the Kindle.) There’s nothing I like more than a good book to read.

. I wish I had a kitten. I also wish I could go to Harry Potter World in Florida. And a few other things but I won’t say all of them so other people can have their wishes too.

Willard & Sally voodoo dolls!!!! W & S are my neighbours… trying to steal a fair chunk of our waterfront, throwing tantrums if/when we mow – or don’t – threaten to shove a rake up hubby’s ***, kill my dog, etc. etc.
I SO need Willard & Sally dolls.
And maybe a Chris & Will set too (tenants from hell) …and one for Magic PooPoos where my daughter works and….
okay… I need a doll of my own, obviously!

OK, I’ve wanted to move to a new house for years and years, but you know what? I wouldn’t waste the voodoo doll on that. Right now I’d settle for a healthy big toe — without ingrown nail — that doesn’t make me hobble around like a 90-year-old woman. Think you can pull that off? If not, how about just having the toe fall off? Bloody stump would be fine; I’m not asking for perfection, just progress. Ouch.

I need some “true magick” in my life but it’s going to be very difficult to be positive about it.
I’m a vengeful person and there are a few people who really need to experience monolithic hemorrhoids. But how to put a positive spin on that? (Taps temple while she thinks…)
Once they live with the ‘rhoids for 6.2 years please allow them to fully appreciate sitting without pain.
Thank you in advance magick voodoo doll.

My wish would be to have a fellow co-worker be a nicer person. She is the most unpredictable woman I’ve ever met. I do believe she’s on a constant PMS trip. Just when you think she’s being nice she turns into the Wicked Witch of the West and it makes for a very tense work environment. Snce there’s only 10 of us that makes your day turn ugly quick!

Sheila — Really? That’s cool. Don’t you just love the color scheme? Have you tried using yours? Was it successful?
Surfie — Hey, I’m all over the lottery business. I love how the instructions call that “prosperity.” Such a nice word for Super Powerball. I can’t believe I didn’t think of a name yet. I’ve decided it’s a she. Got any name suggestions?
ann — Isn’t it terrible that a million probably is measly? After taxes, that is. I’ve often said I don’t want to win too big because then everyone would be after us for money. I only want enough to pay off my house and a car.
Brandy — It doesn’t say it won’t work by proxy (thought of that, as I’m into details). I wish you had a better job environment, too. It’s so important to our well-being.
Kim, Rambling Family Manager — That’s funny. I never considered what people with Kindles would do if they met their favorite author. Nothing like having a signature on the actual paper book. Hey, wait a minute. I just got that. {smiles}
Regan — Aw, that’s sweet. You better check with your mom first on the kitty. Does she want to take care of it when you go off to college?
Daisy the Curly Cat — Hoo boy! Double treats! That’s a mighty fine wish, Daisy. Is your belleh ready for that, though?
Fifthmarch — Awesome wish! I think anything is possible with voodoo. And I don’t think turning someone’s hair blue is evil, as long as they can color it back.
Stephanie Barr — Aw, I’m sorry about the knees. Maybe when I do my thing, I’ll throw in “pain relief” for everyone since we all got it somewhere.
Babs Beetle — You’re right, it does. And I think I’m pretty good at it. I wanted the NPR interview to happen and it did two days after asking for it. New bathroom, eh? Trying to give Mo a break?
Jen — Oh, yes, you know I know the kind. It’s what I want for you too. The best nap of your life.
Marvin — Don’t worry, it’s not loaded.
flit — Uh oh. Yeah, those are mighty large wishes. Willard and Sally should be very afraid that you win. Yes, you may need your own industrial strength doll.
Sparkle — I’m afraid that may be impossible. We have a six year old kitty who’s never stopped bothering our elder cat, no matter how much screaming we do. Hey, maybe I need to use the doll on him.
Tara — Oh, sorry about the toe. What is it with toes? They’re gross to begin with and then we have to worry about them taking over our feet? If you win, I’ll try to save the toe, just make it look prettier, OK?
C Lanctot — Hey, I’ll take improvement of the economy, too. I think that one might actually be doable.
wendy — You go girl! Have you had your hands on an iPad yet? They’re very nice. I won’t buy one (too expensive for my tastes), but that doesn’t stop me from fondling other people’s iPads.
Suzie — Oh, that’s so sad. I’m sorry and wish your sister a speedy recovery. All doll silliness aside, I do hope that she recovers emotionally. I can’t imagine her pain right now.
Cardiogirl — That’s funny. While discussing at work what we’d do with it if we were vengeful (wink wink), my coworker and I thought a nice little yeast infection would be perfect for those who have wronged us. Something really itchy and annoying, but curable. Hemorrhoids fit the bill, too. I’m not sure the doll can handle decimals. How ’bout an even six years?
Lynne — Oh, yeah. Every place has one of those people and it’s terrible that they make so many other people’s lives hell at work. I used to work with a manic person. You never knew what each day would bring. It was hard.

OMG! I’m ordering me a voodoo doll today! I have sooo many uses for …. well, I think I need two dolls – a boy and girl. Or do they come unisex?
Hmm – for my wish, only something good huh? It can be good for me right? I have this person who is creating havoc in my life, I wish said person would disappear, find something else to occupy his time… those are the nicest things I can think to have happen to him. The rest are not so nice and I would not fall in a ‘good’ category.

“I’ve often said I don’t want to win too big because then everyone would be after us for money. I only want enough to pay off my house and a car.”
I agree. Just enough to be comfortable.
Winning the lottery would grant my wish, but I think I’m going to go just a little more general. I wish we were in a better position financially. My husband is still looking for a job, and because of a glitch in their system that no one knows how to fix, hasn’t gotten an unemployment check in 7 weeks. My wish would be granted if they can finally figure out what’s wrong, fix it, and get the back payments to him quickly.

Ooh, this is great! I am usually the one giving out free wishes and free Voodoo dolls so when I stumbled upon your blog, I decided to jump at the chance for someone else to do the work for me for a change! Okay, here is my wish:
I wish to make enough money to pay for the remainder of my tuition by the end of August.
And here is another one for good measure:
I wish to find a new home very quickly so my son and I can stop worrying and go on vacation.
Thanks for this…it never hurts to put out an order to the Universe in more ways than one!

Heather Villa — Yes, I believe they do. In fact, I think this one is supposed to be unisex, but she looks like a woman. Your wish is totally acceptable as written. Now if you said you wanted him dead, then no.
CatLadyLarew — Har! And ew, just the thought….
Karen — I would take either of those for myself, thank you. We’d still get to sleep, right?
Michelle — I’m sorry about the bureaucracy that’s keeping your husband from getting his check. Seven weeks is an eternity. I’ll wish for a speedy check anyway, voodoo or not.
Atown Liker — My husband’s still sleeping, so I can’t ask him what that means. Me no get sports.
Voodoo Mama — No, it doesn’t hurt to put it out there. I find the whole thing a lot more fun than I first thought about voodoo dolls.
Pricilla — So do my cats. They were way too curious about it when I was snapping pictures. Poor Abby.
Linda Medrano — The “face” is, but the fashion is stylin’! I can’t paint, but I’m a mean weeder.
Lynski — No, not too much, and it’s what I want too! Experience AND youth is a powerful combination no one ever gets.
meleah rebeccah — Yeah, I finally got my act together. But I’m still worried about the next one. It’s just not happening for me. Finish a book? You’re lucky you’re not just trying to start one, like me!
Surfie – Yeah, and that’s how we named Windy. Group effort always works well in the Junk Drawer.
Elisha — Aw, congratulations on your upcoming nuptials! You’re supposed to get your fiance a wedding gift? Um. I think I screwed that up.
Criminal Justice Degree — I know! They’re so specific! I had no idea you’re supposed to get something off the person you want to “affect.” How am I supposed to do that? “Hi, can I have some nail clippings?” “For what?” “Oh, nothing.”
Katherine — Did your money potion thing work, though?
Phunnieone — I know. I had to look up waning and waxing because I’m not up on my moon phases. Hey, if it makes me lose weight, I’ll start selling them on the blog.
