Lol my dentist has the swirly bowl thing and I still miss sometimes, depending on how much work I had done and how much novocaine I got. Something about being at the dentist just makes me kind of disoriented and as a result I always dread spitting into that thing. Good luck next time!

Oh my gosh, I saw the title of this entry in your achives and was PRAYING the “spit fail” was somehow dentist related. I’ve gone to the dentist regularly for my ENTIRE life and this very last visit, just a month ago, I walked into the office and saw the prehistoric spit sink. I was very unfamiliar. Previously, my dentist had this fancy suction staw thingy they just crammed into your mouth anytime they felt things were getting a little drooly. Or, they’d use it after they sprayed down your teeth with a small water hose and then suction some more.

So I TOTALLY relate to your situation. When the dental hygienist asked me to spit into the sink, I looked at her bewildered. “Can you not watch?” I asked.

SO AWKWARD.

I laughed outloud at this!!!! That is SO something I would do… and get THIS…. MY dentist just replaced HIS bowl with that same thing. I was SO AFRAID to try it I swallowed toothpaste junk. You were braver than I was… I’m proud of you!

My brother taught me how to spit so I am pretty sure I could rule that thing. Sorry your dentist has no understanding of people who can’t spit properly, that sucks.

The suction thing is definitely the way to go. I love when the dentist lets me take care of that part. I’m sure your dentist is rethinking the switch. I wonder how many patients he sees that end up spitting everywhere but the funnel.

Well,the dentist deserves a floor covered in mess for removing the bowl in the first place.

Oh well… at least you don’t have to see the Dentist too often. Next time you go, there will probably have been another few hundred people who’ve dribbled on the floor and I’m sure he won’t remember you!

That’s just plain awesome. Now, even though I can relate, why is it that as soon as you make the sink a hand-held one, and the drain a noisy one, we can’t make “the switch”? I mean, isn’t it in essence supposed to be the same darn thing?
